Mat is currently at 888 Abalone in Bremer Bay, working as their Business Development Manager. Over the past 7 years Mat has held various roles within the company from grow out technician to General Manager and now focuses on research and company development projects for the farm. From these roles Mat can offer the board a range of practical experiences from operating a land-based abalone aquaculture farm.
Mat has a background in marine science holding a BSc with Honours in Marine Science with a focus on declining kelp population on the east coast of Australia. Mat has also worked for UNSW as a research assistant with his main role being part of a commercial diver team. From Tasmania originally, Mat enjoys the outdoors and nature, especially exploring new SCUBA diving spots.
