Nathan began his working life within the fishing industry spending two seasons as a deckhand on the FV Rex and his third season as the Engineer/Mate aboard the FV Cape Grafton. Nathan then left the fishing industry to take up employment within the emergency services sector where he currently works as a Station Officer leading small teams responding to various emergency incidents. The love of the fishing industry never left Nathan and having taken a keen interest in various fishing options Nathan purchased a specimen shell divers’ licence and vessel in 2017. Nathan went on to secure an aquaculture licence to culture coral and live rock at the Abrolhos Islands, where Nathan is working to develop his aquaculture operation. Nathan has a passion for ecologically responsible and sustainable fishing and aquaculture industries that provide regional economic opportunities and development.

In applying for the position of Director Nathan brings an understanding of governance processes from his time on the Geraldton Christian College board and seeks to contribute to integrous and sound governance that is consistent in serving the stated aims of ACWA’s constitution, by laws and strategic plan. Nathan brings firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing aquaculture operators at the Abrolhos and can reflect these challenges to the ACWA Board whilst contributing to Board business more broadly.

Nathan is married to Sanna and has three teenage children, all currently in the process of packing up house and relocating back to Geraldton after two years in Perth.
